You love your Chevrolet SUV and all that it does for you and your family. Show your appreciation by staying on top of its maintenance. One of the most important maintenance tasks that you do not want to skip is replacing the brake pads. Here are five signs that your car needs new ones.
Squealing noise. This is the most tell-tale sign you need new brake pads. Most brake pads are designed with a “wear indicator” that makes a high-pitched squealing noise when the brake pads are getting too thin.
Long stop time. If you notice it is taking longer to come to a complete stop than it used to, it could be your brake pads. This problem is known as brake fade.
Pulling to one side when braking. If your Chevy is pulling towards one side of the road when you apply the brakes, you should have your vehicle checked as soon as possible. This could be a sign of uneven wear on your brake pads.
Vibrating brake pedal. If stepping on the brake pedal sends shockwaves up through your leg, your brakes may have a “glazing” issue. This is when the resin adhesive is not uniformly distributed across the brake pad.
Clicking sound. Sometimes your brake pads get become loose. When that happens, you might hear a clicking noise when you press or release the brake pedal.
Chevrolet is always looking to the future. Just two years after the introduction of the first mid-engine Corvette, the brand is showing off the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. This impressive machine is the most capable Z06 ever produced. Let’s explore what we can expect from the 2023 Corvette Z06.
Under the hood, the Corvette Z06 comes with an all-new 5.5-liter LT6 V8 engine. This is the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever in a production car. It is rated at an impressive 670 horsepower. In addition to its power, engineers worked for two years to craft a rich exhaust tone that will thrill you every time press on the accelerator.
The Z06 also comes with track-proven technology including launch control for maximum off-the-line acceleration, Performance Traction Management with five settings of torque reduction, and an Electronic Limited Slip Differential.
Along with its impressive performance, the Z06 also features a striking racing-inspired design. It is 3.6 inches wider than the standard Stingray to accommodate large side air vents and 345-series rear tires. The Z06 also comes with unique front and rear fascias. To improve stability and cornering, it comes with a reconfigurable rear spoiler.
Inside, the Corvette Z06 features a driver-centric cockpit. Rich materials and unique textures including carbon fiber trim give the cabin an upscale feel.
The new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup has been redesigned for 2022. With new technology and more interior comfort than ever, this classic pickup truck is sure to impress.
Super Cruise hands-free driving is available for the first time ever on the 2022 Silverado 1500. Super Cruise can be used on more than 200,000 miles of compatible roads in the United States and Canada. Super Cruise lets you take your hands off of the wheel — but keep your eyes on the road — and even works while you are pulling a trailer.
The new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 has everything you need for adventure. Standard features include front and rear e-lockers and Multimatic DSSV dampers, plus suspension and chassis upgrades. Choose between three different engines: a 2.7-liter Turbo, a 3.0-liter Turbo-Diesel, and a 6.2-liter V-8 engine.
The Most Comfortable and Luxurious
You will love the completely redesigned interior of the 2022 Silverado. It boasts an expansive 13.4-inch-diagonal color touch screen, a 12.3-inch-diagonal digital instrument cluster, a redesigned center console, and a 15-inch Head Up Information display that shows speed, fuel levels, and more. Plus, the Silverado now offers built-in Google Assistant with Google Maps and Google Play on the screen. The High Country trim also offers soft leather seating and door trim with real wood accents.
While other parts of the country may be more famous for their fall foliage, you can still see beautiful autumn colors right here in Texas. If you have some free time this fall, take a road trip to catch the spectacular colors across the state.
Travel to the state capital in your Chevrolet Equinox, about four hours away, and catch some spectacular views. Austin has a great collection of trails and parks that explode in oranges, reds, and yellows. The best spots to visit include the Zilker Botanical Gardens, McKinney Falls State Park, St. Edward’s Park, and Redbud Isle.
Tyler State Park
Tyler State Park, located in the city of Tyler, is about three and a half hours north of Sour Lake. This park features a stately forest with 100-foot tall trees and a large 64-acre lake. This combination creates a fantastic view of the fall foliage reflected in the water. Plan your visit to your Chevrolet Silverado from now through early December to see the best colors.
The area around Fort Worth usually gets some bold autumn colors. For a unique fall experience, visit the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, which hosts a Japanese Fall Festival every year. And if you bring your family along in a Chevrolet Suburban, you’ll have plenty of room for everyone — and your cargo, too.

Winter is right around the corner, which means residents of Sour Lake, TX can expect some rainy commutes. These essentials are important additions to a winter emergency kit for your car and will help you stay safe on the road.
Blanket and extra warm clothes
For the most part, our winters in Sour Lake stay pretty warm, but sometimes night temperatures can drop low. If you’re stranded after dark and only wearing short sleeves from the daytime, you’ll be happy to have something warm while you wait for help.
Road flares or reflective triangles
It’s always good to have road flares or some type of warning signal in your car, in case you need to pull over for an emergency. This is even more important in the winter when it’s dark out early. Flares will help protect you in potentially rainy weather when slick roads could cause dangerous conditions for passing drivers.
Flashlight and extra batteries
With the earlier time of sunsets during winter, it’s good to keep a flashlight in your vehicle. Even if you have one built into your smartphone, this will ensure that you have some illumination if your phone’s battery dies and your vehicle breaks down at night.
With all the winter rain, you can expect to have a dirty windshield for the next few months. Keep some windshield cleaner in your winter emergency kit, and this way you’ll always have what you need to ensure clear visibility.
For more winter maintenance tips, contact us at Sour Lake Chevrolet. And remember to schedule your vehicle’s seasonal service appointment to ensure that your travels are as safe as they are fun during the cooler months.
GMC will soon offer a MultiPro™ Tailgate variant for the 2022 Chevy Silverado, a move that would elevate the abilities of the Silverado and open up new possibilities for its owners.
Per Autblog’s Ronan Glon, the new MultiPro™ Tailgate variant for the Silverado will include the current six standard functions while adding a seventh of its own. The name for the tailgate is expected to be the MultiFlex or the Multi-Flex, as GM already holds a trademark for the moniker.
Though we don’t know much about the Multi-Flex yet, we do know that it will take many cues from the MultiPro™. This tailgate is made up of a primary gate and a smaller inner gate hinged inside the primary gate. You can lower both of these gates to get 7-9 inches closer to the bed than you normally would, for easier unloading and loading.
Full-width steps, hand grabs, and load stops are just some of the other features that make the MultiPro™ Tailgate so impressive and make the upcoming Silverado variant so exciting. Stay tuned for more news on the Multi-Flex tailgate in the days ahead. And in the meantime, stop by Sour Lake Chevrolet to take one of our current Silverado models for a whirl.
Most pickup trucks can either be powerful or fuel efficient. However, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is aiming to change that with the available XFE Fuel Economy Package. With this package, it can help maximize your fuel economy, while still giving you the performance you want.
The XFE Fuel Economy Package gives the Chevy Silverado a premium soft roll-up tonneau cover. This not only helps protect your cargo, but it reduces drag that is often created from an open truck bed. This increase in aerodynamics gives the Silverado a boost in efficiency with an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined and 24 mpg highway*.
In addition to the tonneau cover, this package also includes 18-inch Bright Silver painted wheels and all-season tires. The total price for this package is $850. This package is also not available with the Max Trailering Package, Z71 Off-Road Package, or Convenience package. You cannot get any other options with the Fuel Economy package.
This package is available on the Silverado 1500 LT trim with the Short Bed and Crew Cab body. It also requires the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 2WD. This powertrain combination has an output of 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
Call us at Sour Lake Chevrolet to learn more about the XFE Fuel Economy Package or another available add-on that the Silverado 1500 offers. We’re here to help you get the most out of your Chevy truck

GM will soon bestow updates on the Chevrolet lineup of medium-duty commercial Silverado trucks, including the 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks. These tweaks translate to better performance and more flexible upfitting for this product lineup.
Back in March, GM announced that its medium-duty line will increase its maximum gross combined weight 23 percent to 37,000 pounds. This massive improvement in performance will help the company continue to grow its commercial sales, which have increased 67 percent in the last seven years.
The medium-duty trucks will also see an array of changes to their axles, including a new mechanical locking rear axle for better traction when a rear tire skids, and longer axle-to-end-of-frame options on the shortest wheelbases for broader upfitting options.
In addition, Chevy is adding an auxiliary switch bank with six additional upfit switches in the headliner and new extended mirror arms for better visibility on larger upfits. These changes mean that more kinds of upfits will be available for a wider range of Chevy medium-duty commercial Silverado trucks.
The success of the medium-duty lineup and other GM commercial vehicles has led GM to expand production by investing significant funds in its plants in Flint, Michigan; Brookville, Ohio; and Wentzville, Missouri. This will allow for 40,000 more vehicles to be produced each year. It will also allow GM to produce more 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 engines and help fund improvements for mid-size pickup and van models produced at the Wentzville, Missouri plant.
