Winter is right around the corner, which means residents of Sour Lake, TX can expect some rainy commutes. These essentials are important additions to a winter emergency kit for your car and will help you stay safe on the road.
Blanket and extra warm clothes
For the most part, our winters in Sour Lake stay pretty warm, but sometimes night temperatures can drop low. If you’re stranded after dark and only wearing short sleeves from the daytime, you’ll be happy to have something warm while you wait for help.
Road flares or reflective triangles
It’s always good to have road flares or some type of warning signal in your car, in case you need to pull over for an emergency. This is even more important in the winter when it’s dark out early. Flares will help protect you in potentially rainy weather when slick roads could cause dangerous conditions for passing drivers.
Flashlight and extra batteries
With the earlier time of sunsets during winter, it’s good to keep a flashlight in your vehicle. Even if you have one built into your smartphone, this will ensure that you have some illumination if your phone’s battery dies and your vehicle breaks down at night.
With all the winter rain, you can expect to have a dirty windshield for the next few months. Keep some windshield cleaner in your winter emergency kit, and this way you’ll always have what you need to ensure clear visibility.
For more winter maintenance tips, contact us at Sour Lake Chevrolet. And remember to schedule your vehicle’s seasonal service appointment to ensure that your travels are as safe as they are fun during the cooler months.
GMC will soon offer a MultiPro™ Tailgate variant for the 2022 Chevy Silverado, a move that would elevate the abilities of the Silverado and open up new possibilities for its owners.
Per Autblog’s Ronan Glon, the new MultiPro™ Tailgate variant for the Silverado will include the current six standard functions while adding a seventh of its own. The name for the tailgate is expected to be the MultiFlex or the Multi-Flex, as GM already holds a trademark for the moniker.
Though we don’t know much about the Multi-Flex yet, we do know that it will take many cues from the MultiPro™. This tailgate is made up of a primary gate and a smaller inner gate hinged inside the primary gate. You can lower both of these gates to get 7-9 inches closer to the bed than you normally would, for easier unloading and loading.
Full-width steps, hand grabs, and load stops are just some of the other features that make the MultiPro™ Tailgate so impressive and make the upcoming Silverado variant so exciting. Stay tuned for more news on the Multi-Flex tailgate in the days ahead. And in the meantime, stop by Sour Lake Chevrolet to take one of our current Silverado models for a whirl.
Most pickup trucks can either be powerful or fuel efficient. However, the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is aiming to change that with the available XFE Fuel Economy Package. With this package, it can help maximize your fuel economy, while still giving you the performance you want.
The XFE Fuel Economy Package gives the Chevy Silverado a premium soft roll-up tonneau cover. This not only helps protect your cargo, but it reduces drag that is often created from an open truck bed. This increase in aerodynamics gives the Silverado a boost in efficiency with an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined and 24 mpg highway*.
In addition to the tonneau cover, this package also includes 18-inch Bright Silver painted wheels and all-season tires. The total price for this package is $850. This package is also not available with the Max Trailering Package, Z71 Off-Road Package, or Convenience package. You cannot get any other options with the Fuel Economy package.
This package is available on the Silverado 1500 LT trim with the Short Bed and Crew Cab body. It also requires the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 2WD. This powertrain combination has an output of 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.
Call us at Sour Lake Chevrolet to learn more about the XFE Fuel Economy Package or another available add-on that the Silverado 1500 offers. We’re here to help you get the most out of your Chevy truck

GM will soon bestow updates on the Chevrolet lineup of medium-duty commercial Silverado trucks, including the 4500 HD, 5500 HD, and 6500 HD chassis cab trucks. These tweaks translate to better performance and more flexible upfitting for this product lineup.
Back in March, GM announced that its medium-duty line will increase its maximum gross combined weight 23 percent to 37,000 pounds. This massive improvement in performance will help the company continue to grow its commercial sales, which have increased 67 percent in the last seven years.
The medium-duty trucks will also see an array of changes to their axles, including a new mechanical locking rear axle for better traction when a rear tire skids, and longer axle-to-end-of-frame options on the shortest wheelbases for broader upfitting options.
In addition, Chevy is adding an auxiliary switch bank with six additional upfit switches in the headliner and new extended mirror arms for better visibility on larger upfits. These changes mean that more kinds of upfits will be available for a wider range of Chevy medium-duty commercial Silverado trucks.
The success of the medium-duty lineup and other GM commercial vehicles has led GM to expand production by investing significant funds in its plants in Flint, Michigan; Brookville, Ohio; and Wentzville, Missouri. This will allow for 40,000 more vehicles to be produced each year. It will also allow GM to produce more 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 engines and help fund improvements for mid-size pickup and van models produced at the Wentzville, Missouri plant.
